RITVA FALLA COLLECTION SPRING-SUMMER 2023
The light and freedom of summer, the salty smell of the sea, the soothing sound of waves and the colors of the flower meadow have inspired designer Mika Piirainen in the design of the Spring – Summer 2023 collection.
The collection’s versatile color chart features deep night blue, mimosa yellow, poppy red and marigold orange, as well as soft pastel shades such as light rose and melange water blue. In addition to the maritime and summer stripes, the clothing prints feature beautiful flowers and a graphically stylish Palikat-pattern printed on cotton linen, designed by Pasi Kärkkäinen-Tunkelo.
In addition to high-quality linen, the materials in the collection are cotton satin, wonderfully festive viscose satin and easy-care viscose elastane jerseys. The novelties in the collection are knits from boiled merino wool, perfectly suited for the early Spring coolness.
The timeless spring jackets are made from a cotton blend and light polyester taffeta, both of which are water-repellent and machine washable.
RITVA FALLA COLLECTION AUTUMN – WINTER 2022-23
The theme of the collection is the rendez-vous of functionalism and humanity.
The inspiration of our designer Mika Piirainen was to photograph the autumn-winter collection in the Aalto University Töölö building. Its sophisticated architecture from the 1950s represents Nordic style, which combines the rationality of functionalism with a warm and human touch in both the broad and small details.
The same practicality and sophisticated details also characterize the new autumn-winter collection. In addition, Mika is inspired by the interaction of city and nature, which influenced the color palette of the collection. For example, the wonderfully glowing cranberry red combines with snow white and deep blue to create a calming and wintery feel. The frosted winter pastels look soft, and contrast is brought by classic black and sand brown.

The Spring – Summer 2022 collection, designed by Mika Piirainen, is like a summer day out on the sea – the glowing sun, the cool sea breeze, surrounded by the splashing waves of the Baltic Sea.
The collection’s earthy shades of mellow green, sand and copper brown are followed by later deliveries’ cooling yellow, soft orange and fresh marine shades of turquoise and blue. Additionally, the color palette also features the classic black and white. The prints have been inspired by the ascetic sea setting, showcasing bare flowers and smooth round stones, together with interesting stripes in many attractive color combinations. The materials include summery linen in both fabric and knit, a charming blend of linen cotton and cotton silk, as well as an easy care viscose jersey.

RITVA FALLA COLLECTION AUTUMN – WINTER 2021-22
Designer Mika Piirainen has been inspired by the blue hour, the magical light phenomenon of mornings and evenings, and by the earthy, autumnal shades of brown in the Finnish nature when designing the collection. These two color themes meet and intertwine in the collection, together with glowing orange and yellow, which bring contrast to the color palette.
Cozy knits and warm, but light to wear coats are the key items of this collection. The “Tikku” print designed by Piirainen can be found in the plush quilted coats and vests as well as in the merino knits. The strong stripes of Piirainen’s designs highlight the color themes of the collection, found in the coats, knits, as well as the timeless jersey pieces.

The unknown sea and its power, freedom and the fascinating world below the surface have inspired the Spring – Summer 20021 collection designed by Mika Piirainen.
Different shades of sea blue and fresh white create the atmosphere of the collection’s color palette, complemented by shades of reds and classic black. Marine stripes, both in linen and jersey, are the key prints of the collection, although there are many other prints, including graphic lines and colorful summer flowers, typical to Piirainen.

Finnish architecture and art, as well as Finland’s beautiful nature, were designer Mika Piirainen’s sources of inspiration for the collection. Furthermore, he found inspiration from different geometric patterns and the 20th century spirit. The color palette focuses on winter white, as its fresh glow counteracts the dark autumn days, and is complimented by the other colors of the collection – different shades of blue, sesame beige, nutria, copper, aubergine and graphite gray, and of course black.
Textile artist Erja Hirvi has designed the ”Poppeli” and ”Laidun” patterns for the collection to depict the changing nature scenes during autumn: leaves floating from trees and a hayfield with its swept hay. The land is sometimes covered with leaves and seeds of many colors, and on other times it is covered by frosted, straw-colored hay that forms a rolling landscape, Erja describes. The merino wool knits Elice ja Ericlea are designed by Elina Hiltunen, a young fashion design student.
All pieces in the collection are timeless and sophisticated, with a well-designed fit. As usual, all materials are high quality and easy to maintain.

The SS2020 Ritva Falla Collection, designed by Mika Piirainen, tells the story of a sunny summer day in the city, while still close to nature and the sea.
The story is inspired by the magnificent tones of the Finnish nature – glowing reds, calming blues, earthy shades of beige and yellow, pastel greens and, of course, black and white. The Collection relies on the principles of easy, yet sophisticated, styles, luxury and fantastic quality materials, as well as bold stripes, together with minimalistic, or more flamboyant and loud, prints.
